Alpinism and high mountain

The Ecrins form a one single piece massif (2710 km2), one of the highest in France, over 4000m, including 150 summits over 3000m, with about 50 over 3500m and a very important glacier system over 11000 ha, the second in France.

Alpinism history is wroten from the XIXe century in these mountains which are today the masterpiece of the Ecrins National Park.

The "Barre and Dome des Ecrins", the "Pelvoux", the "Ailefroide", The "Glacier Blanc" are all summits names made famous by famoust alpinists.

Every day in these mountains, local mountain guides will advice and guide you along high mountain routes and glacier travel.
