Le grand parcours - the great route

From 21 to 23 of may in Pelvoux / Ailefroide
The 4th "Grand Parcours" is a huge mountaineering festival where beginners can take part alongside famous names in the mountaineering world.
A village of sponsors will be set up at Pelvoux with technical workshops and demonstrations.
Come and enjoy 2 days practical mountain experience, with workshops and routes, in the Ailefroide valley with high mountain guides.
Open to all from beginners to expert mountaineers.
Loan of gear available depending on supplies available.

Festivélo - mountain biking

13th and 14th of june in Puy Saint-Vincent / Pelvoux / La Vallouise
The Ecrins Mountain bike club is organising :
. the 4th Vallouise Tourisk Trophy, a 2 day endurance race of more than 1300m downhill with reconnaissance on Saturday and special timed course on Sunday.
. the 3rd "Vélo pour tous les Traces", biking for all, on Saturday at Pelvoux resort. A 4 cross-country race for children of 4 to 15 with timed circuits adapted to different categories of age.
With a spirit of sharing and fun, the race is open to all .
Barbeque and bar available over the 2 days. Evening concert on Saturday 13 June.

The 20th and 21st of june in the Pays des Ecrins
 |
|
The second genuine Trail event taking place over 2 days in the breathtaking landscape of the Pays des Ecrins.
This original and different course is the first of its kind where Trail fans strive over 2 stages with 75km and an ascent of 4300 vertical metres during a 2 day-long course.
The aim is to please all the participants whether they are mountain Trail experts out to win and looking for strong sensations or those who love a genuine natural environment.
A convivial bivouac is on offer during the two days of the competition.
Different entertainment and the Music Festival complete the programme for this great event.

From 9th to 17th of july in L'Argentière la Bessée

Once again, top level canoe kayak competitions will take place at the white water sportsground at L'Argentière in the Pays des Ecrins.
All of the French slalom championships for cadets, juniors, veterans, National 2 and club teams; all of the French championships for 'classic' descent and all categories 'sprint ' on the white water ground and on the Durance down to the Roche de Rame.
The National Youth challenge , grouping together the best juniors for events over 3 days that emphasize the main qualities needed to become a good athlete.

The 17th TAB bouldering event and 5th Climbing Film Festival bring together climbers and audience to make their vertical dreams come true.

Montagne en fête - the Mountain Festival

From 16th to 19th of july in the Pays des Ecrins
Films , lectures , meet the authors. Famous mountaineers in person. Numerous activities and entertainment, tombola, the Mountain village and of course the traditional Mountain Guide Festival at Ailefroide on Sunday which will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Mountain guide bureau.

From 6 to 8th of august in L'Argentière la Bessée
The central point of the Festival is the Book Show where you can find authors, editors, book sellers and second hand book sellers, and associations.
More than ten workshops are on offer for all ages, where you can try calligraphy or paper making or take part in different experiences linked to the theme of the Festival, namely " Water matters, from myth to reality". Over the three days there are shows, lectures (including ones for children) slide shows and exhibitions.
The 2009 Festival also encompasses the 2nd 'Rene Desmaison Ecrins Literary Prize ' which will be awarded to the author of a literary work about mountaineering or life in the mountains . The prize will be presented during the opening ceremony in the presence of Mr Pascal Desmaison, the President of Honour.

15 concerts from 13 to 23 August in the Pays des Ecrins
Nature, music and poetry "words and notes"
The Ecrins mountains talk to the senses as well as the soul. The 16th "Musique en Ecrins" will awaken all our senses and beneath one of the roofs of Europe, the secrets of mountains and ravines, paths and pastures, churches and villages will be disclosed.
This new programme will be the occasion to bring man and nature even closer together.

From 24th to 30th of august
The 4th Roll'Ski Ecrins will take place in two parts with a training course for the French cross-country ski teams and 2 days of events counting for the French Championships (FFS).
The best French and foreign cross- country skiers will compete in an inline sprint at L'Argentiere and in a race and hill race in 2 stages.
These competitions will close the traditional week-long training camp spent in the Pays des Ecrins for all these top level sports men and women.
