Access to the Pays des Écrins by road

There are three main access roads to reach the Pays des Écrins.

From the North 

On the A48 motorway as far as Grenoble, then over the Col du Lautaret (RN 91 road).  Continue through Briançon, heading towards Gap. You are entering the Pays des Écrins when you reach Saint Martin de Queyrières.  

Via Italy 

On the A43 Maurienne motorway through the Fréjus tunnel, then over the Col de Montgenèvre. Continue through Briançon, heading towards Gap. You are entering the Pays des Écrins when you reach Saint Martin de Queyrières.

From the South 

On the A51 motorway as far as La Saulce, then towards Briançon on the RN 94 road. You are entering the Pays des Écrins when you reach La Roche de Rame.

Access to the Pays des Écrins by rail

You will find all the times for rail travel to the Pays des Écrins, and can book on the SNCF website: http://www.voyages-sncf.com

IMPORTANT: the train station serving the Puy St Vincent and Pelvoux-Vallouise resorts is called ‘L’Argentière les Écrins’. It is important that you specify the full name of the station when you book, as otherwise you may end up with a ticket for the ‘L’Argentière’ station in Savoy!

  • By TER from Paris, Marseille and Grenoble
  • The SNCF runs direct, daily connections from Paris, Marseille and Grenoble to L’Argentière les Écrins. Information and bookings: 36 35 (from France)
  • Paris/Briançon, direct trains + car-sleeper trains.
  • TGV (high-speed train), Paris-Valence or Paris-Grenoble.
  • Daily connections between Marseille and Briançon.
