When is the best time to see the <\/em>golden larch trees?<\/h2><\/div>\n\n

In the Pays des \u00c9crins, the deciduous trees begin to change color in early October. The larch trees, on the other hand, take on their golden hue between late October and early November. The spectacle of the golden larch trees lasts only about fifteen days: it\u2019s best to keep an eye on the weather and not wait too long! <\/p>\n\n

La Tome or Le Peyron: A Wilderness Hike Above Saint-Martin-de-Queyri\u00e8res<\/em><\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Tome hike, also known as the Peyron, starts in Saint-Martin-de-Queyri\u00e8res and follows the Fond Froid Valley. The route alternates between sections through larch forests and rocky terrain as it approaches the summit, which rises to an elevation of 2,744 meters. The panoramic view of the Durance Valley makes the effort well worth it. Rarely visited and very wild, the Tome area also hides a pretty little lake behind the summit of the Peyron. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dormillouse, the inhabited hamlet in the heart of the \u00c9crins National Park<\/em><\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s impossible to talk about fall without mentioning Dormillouse<\/a>, the only village inhabited year-round in the heart of the \u00c9crins National Park. The hamlet of Dormillouse is nestled at an altitude of about 1,750 meters, deep in the Freissini\u00e8res Valley. It\u2019s accessible only on foot, via a trail that runs alongside the stream and through the forest. If you\u2019re looking for a place far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life to unwind and enjoy unspoiled nature, Dormillouse is the perfect retreat.
