To your snowshoes or touring skis!

Accompanied by a guide, discover Dormillouse, the only inhabited hamlet in the heart of the Écrins National Park, accessible only on foot, snowshoes or skis. Nestled at an altitude of 1,728 metres in the Freissinières valley, this high-altitude village transports you out of time. On the way, learn to read the tracks left in the snow and keep your eyes open: foxes, black grouse, chamois or ibex may well cross your path.

Evening at the refuge

Once you arrive, settle into one of the warm accommodations of the hamlet: the Refuge de l’Oncle Émile, the Écrin de Violette or the Gîte de l’École. In a simple and authentic atmosphere, you will enjoy a meal cooked with organic, local and seasonal products. Friendly atmosphere, warmth of the stove, crackling wood… Everything invites you to disconnect.

Night under the stars

When silence falls over the village, the sky is revealed: pure, immense, starry. Sleeping in Dormillouse means falling asleep far from the world, enveloped by winter and the magic of the heights. In the morning, the striking calm and the soft light on the snow give this alpine interlude a rare taste: that of a real micro-adventure.
