The Vallée de l’Onde: wild immersion all year round

Welcome to one of the most secret and unspoilt valleys in the Pays des Écrins. L’Onde is this torrent with turquoise water that winds at the foot of the Aiglière, drawing a wild and silent setting that you can explore all year round. Each season reveals a new facet, as striking as ever.

In summer

Summer is pure adventure. Walking, trail running, bivouac: you choose your pace. Do you want some calm? Stay at the bottom of the valley. Do you want to take to the skies? Climb to the top of the sector. The evenings are long, the stars are shining, and the air smells of resin.

In autumn

In the autumn, it’s time for the fire of the larches. This is perhaps the most magical season. Few people, flamboyant colors, golden light… The Wave becomes wild, mysterious, almost confidential.

In winter

In winter, it’s time for gentle skiing. From Vallouise, cross-country skiers set off towards the Gresonnières hut. The route follows the frozen river, between crystallized trees and absolute silence. You don’t need to be a skating pro, here, you take your time. Two hours are enough to make the round trip and take in the sights. You can also swap skis for snowshoes for a frosty and peaceful hike.

In spring

In spring, water becomes the queen of the valley. The melting of the snow swells the Wave, its clear waters dance between the rocks, and the meadows are covered with flowers. It’s the perfect time for a quiet walk or a picnic in the sun. The most curious ones head to the confluence of the Bans and the Selle torrents, where the Onde is born.
